Finavon Castle Water Salmon and Sea Trout Fishing on the River South Esk in Scotland

Castle Stream

Castle Stream is placed immediately upstream of the suspension Bridge and is fished from the north bank. The pool is not a major producer of fish, however, there are a few good lies in the tail, below the boulder which breaks the surface of the water two thirds of the way down the pool. There is an occasional sea trout to be taken from this part of the pool in low water. The upper part of the pool is simply a shallow gravelly rush which does not hold fish.

My advice to visiting fishermen is always to give the lower section of this pool a try, especially in low water in the early mornings or late evening and dusk.
