This streamy little pool fishes best in low or medium water summer conditions. It is deceptively deep, especially just upstream of the hut, and the tail has a reputation for producing the occasional surprise, an 18lbs fresh summer salmon at dawn in July being one, and a 7lbs sea trout in the darkest period of an August night another. The pool is just a few yards downstream of the footbridge and is easily fished from the North bank. Craigo is often neglected because of the undoubted attraction of the next pool, Red Brae. I am in no doubt that a bit more time fishing Craigo Stream down carefully would increase the frequency of those surprises!
